When you've bought a parcel of land and are having a new home built, one of the tasks that may be necessary is to have a water well drilled. This is an exciting task because it can help you to feel as though you're one big step closer to making the house inhabitable. There are several different placement considerations that you'll need to discuss with your drilling company. First and foremost, the company will need to drill the well in a position on your land that provides the best access to water below the earth. There are other considerations, too, that will influence exactly where the well will be situated.

Proximity To House

There may be a part of you that desires having the well drilled immediately adjacent to your house. After all, some people don't really like the look of a well cap extending out of the ground in an obvious location, such as the middle of their yard. However, the drilling company will likely want to avoid putting the well too close to the house. If the house's foundation has already been poured, the drilling company won't want to risk damage to the foundation by drilling too closely. Similarly, if the foundation has yet to be dug, the drilling company may be concerned about the excavation potentially damaging a nearby well. Generally, the company will recommend digging the well at a safe distance from the house — a distance that can vary according to several factors.

Proximity To Septic Tank

If you're getting a well drilled, you'll likely be having a septic tank dug, too. This is another element that your well drilling company will want to avoid. If your septic tank isn't in place yet, your drilling company will need to know where the tank will be located. Just like with your foundation, the drilling company won't want to get too close to where the septic tank will be installed because it doesn't want the installation of one element to interfere with the other.

Proximity To Driveway

You'll also want to talk to your drilling company about how and where you plan to have the driveway built on your new property. The company will advocate placing your well, when possible, away from the driveway for a number of reasons. For example, if the well cap were to be located next to where you want the driveway, a machine could damage it if you were getting your driveway paved. Additionally, if the cap were too close to the driveway, someone could potentially run into it with his or her vehicle, causing serious problems.

Identifying Employees Who Will Excel

When you manage a large company, you will likely have several employees who rely on you to provide them with direction and gainful employment. However, doing your due diligence to make your company as successful as possible is important, since not everyone who works for you will be looking out for your best interests. I started thinking more seriously about how to identify workers who were looking out for my best resources a few months back, and it was neat to pay closer attention to how they were contributing to our company. Use this blog to learn more about business, since the right workers can make a powerful difference.
